NT50 Mini Circuit Breaker – 2P RCBO with LED Status Indicator for Residential Circuits

Most miniature circuit breakers typically go unnoticed inside a distribution board; when tripped, a person must determine which switches are tripped by checking each toggle or switch until they find all those that have been tripped. Unlike other products available on the market that operate in this manner, the HUYU Electric NT50 has an LED Status Indicator on the face of the mini circuit breaker that will allow users to easily identify whether it has tripped due to an overload or a ground fault. This unit is a 2P AC 240V circuit breaker with a nominal current range of 6A–40A and is available as an MCB (2P1E) or an RCBO with integrated 30mA Residual Current Protection (2P2E) that meets IEC 61008-1 for Ground Fault protection and IEC 60898-1 for Overload protection.

The NT50 features thermal magnetic trip technology; the thermal circuit breaker will trip on continuous current (1.13In–1.45In) and the magnetic circuit breaker will trip on short-circuit currents (10In–20In). The NT50’s thermal-magnetic trip operation allows for consistent trip performance in different ambient conditions. This product will accommodate residential domestic consumer equipment and light commercial applications through an IP20 insulated housing, via DIN rail mount and has an operating range from -35°C to +70°C. HUYU Electric sells the NT50 at factory-direct OEM/ODM prices and can provide private-label packaging for buyers looking for functional product differentiation without paying premium-brand prices.

2P1E vs 2P2E – Choose the Protection Level Your Installation Requires

Feature NT50 2P1E NT50 2P2E
Overcurrent Protection Yes (IEC 60898-1) Yes (IEC 60898-1)
Earth Leakage Protection No Yes, 30mA (IEC 61008-1)
LED Status Indicator Overcurrent trip indication Overcurrent + earth leakage trip indication
Residual Current Rating N/A 30mA
Typical Application 240V circuits with upstream RCD protection 240V circuits requiring individual RCBO protection

The 2P1E version is ideal for installations where a central residual current device protects the whole board, handling only overcurrent. On the other hand, the 2P2E version integrates 30mA earth leakage protection, providing independent protection for each circuit. This is particularly useful in many regions where regulations mandate residual current protection at the breaker level for socket circuits rated up to 40A. The 2P2E version meets this requirement in one compact device.

NT50 – Features That Stand Out in a Distribution Board

Many miniature circuit breakers look alike on display. The NT50 provides your clients with two noticeable improvements: an LED that indicates whether or not the device has tripped, and the ability to provide both overcurrent and 30mA earth leakage protection from a single product. For residential electricians who are troubleshooting an electrical problem, the LED enables them to tell which circuit has tripped before actually touching anything. For residential builders and small commercial contractors, the 2P2E RCBO model replaces the need for having separate RCD’s because both overcurrent and residual current protection can be done with one unit. The NT50 complies with international regulations such as IEC 60898-1 and IEC 61008-1, so it would make a good complement to an existing catalog of circuit protection equipment from conventional manufacturers.

LED Indicator: Visual trip status without opening the panel.
2P1E + 2P2E: Two protection levels from one product family.
30mA RCBO: Integrated earth leakage without extra components.
IEC Dual Standard: Overcurrent + residual current compliance.
Buyer’s Guide

How to Choose Your NT50 – 2P1E vs 2P2E, Current Rating & Application

A practical guide to specifying the correct NT50 configuration for residential and light commercial circuits.

1. 2P1E or 2P2E?

If the main distribution board already has an RCD protecting all circuits, the 2P1E (overcurrent only) is a cost-effective solution. If the circuit requires individual earth leakage protection — a common requirement for socket outlets under modern wiring regulations — opt for the 2P2E with integrated 30mA residual current protection. This version also simplifies troubleshooting since a fault will only trip the specific breaker instead of the entire distribution board.

2. Current Rating

Lighting circuits: 6A or 10A. Socket outlets: 16A or 20A. Water heaters and air conditioners: 25A or 32A. Cookers, showers, and sub-main feeds: 40A. The NT50 covers a comprehensive range of current ratings in seven steps, accommodating common load requirements. The 40A version supports up to 10mm² wiring capacity.

3. Understanding the Tripping Mechanism

The NT50 uses dual trip elements. Thermal trips activate during sustained overloads, whereas magnetic trips respond instantly to short circuits. This ensures robust protection with a reliable response to temporary or severe issues without unnecessary downtime.

4. Installation Notes

The NT50 mounts on a TH35-7.5 DIN rail and is designed for indoor use. With an IP20 rating and an operating range of -35°C to +70°C, it’s suitable for consumer units, distribution boards, and light commercial settings. Ensure proper installation within an electricity enclosure for optimal safety and functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 2P in MCB?

2P stands for 2-Pole. In an MCB, this means the device has two separate switching contacts that simultaneously connect or disconnect two conductors — typically the phase (live) and neutral wires in a single-phase AC circuit. The NT50 is a 2P mini circuit breaker designed for 240V circuits where both conductors need to be isolated under fault conditions.

What is the use of 2 pole MCB?

A 2 pole MCB is used in single-phase circuits where both the live and neutral conductors must be disconnected when a fault occurs. This is required in many local electrical codes for circuits feeding socket outlets, water heaters, air conditioners, and fixed appliances. Unlike a single pole MCB that only breaks the live wire, a 2 pole device ensures complete isolation — no voltage can reach the downstream circuit from either conductor. The NT50 2P2E version adds a third function: 30mA earth leakage protection in the same compact housing.

What does double pole MCB mean?

A double pole MCB is the same as a 2P MCB — it controls two conductors simultaneously. “Double pole” means two separate switching mechanisms are ganged together inside one device, operated by a single toggle. When the breaker trips or is manually switched off, both poles open at the same time. This differs from a single pole MCB, which only breaks one conductor and leaves the neutral connected. The NT50 uses a double pole design across both its 2P1E (overcurrent only) and 2P2E (overcurrent + earth leakage) configurations.

What does 2P mean on a breaker?

On a circuit breaker, 2P means the device has two protected poles — it simultaneously switches and protects two conductors. In a residential or light commercial consumer unit, a 2P breaker typically occupies two standard module widths on the DIN rail. The NT50 is marked 2P because it disconnects both the phase and neutral conductors in a 240V AC circuit, and in its 2P2E version, it also provides 30mA residual current protection across both poles — combining the functions of an MCB and an RCD in one device.
