Key Features & Typical Use

Solid Aerosol Technology — No Pressure, No Piping

The EXFP7 series produces fire-extinguishing aerosol using a solid material that contains strontium nitrate and potassium nitrate. The aerosol prevents the combustion process from happening on the molecular level and extinguishes fire in every corner of the enclosed area in a matter of seconds.

Thermal Sensing — Automatic Activation at 170±10℃

The device is activated by the thermal sensing line when the temperature inside the cabinet reaches 170±10℃. The beauty of this device lies in the fact that it requires no external power, no control units and no human effort.

Multi-Hazard Coverage — Class A, B, C & E Fires

Able to handle Class A (wood and cable insulation) fires, Class B (liquids and gases) fires, Class C (energized electrical equipment) fires, and Class E (live electrical fires).

Built for Extreme Environments

Created to function seamlessly from -50°C to +90°C in conditions of up to 95% humidity, allowing it to withstand conditions in the Arctic cold, desert heat, tropical humidity, and marine salt spray.

EXFP7 Black Square Series — DIN Rail Aerosol Fire Extinguisher for Electrical Enclosures

The EXFP7 Black Square Series is a thermal sensing aerosol automatic fire extinguishing system that has been designed specifically for closed spaces where traditional water sprinklers, gas-based systems or manual extinguishers cannot give suitable protection. The unit employs a solid aerosol-generating agent with strontium nitrate (60%) and potassium nitrate (20%) as active oxidizers and produces a fine dispersing fire-fighting aerosol when heated to 170±10 Celsius degrees.
The aerosol settles down in the protected area, reaches every corner of the enclosure, extinguishing flames in the fire source without producing conductive remains, damaging delicate electronics and requiring any special operations for extinguishing agent removal.

The EXFP7 series comes in seven chemical weight configurations from 10g to 144g, being suitable for protecting enclosures from small junction boxes (0.1 M3) to large equipment cabinets (1.5m³). The ultra-compact design – offering models of only 9 mm height – allows use of this extinguisher in crowded control desks, DIN rail enclosures, and server racks unable to accommodate conventional extinguishing systems. As a standard, the device is delivered as a surface-mounted device with optional DIN rail brackets for panel builders.

Having a factory-owned production of automatic hot aerosol extinguishing devices, we offer competitive wholesale prices on top of custom branding services and options of OEM/ODM manufacturing to satisfy individual orders of distributors, panel builders and fire safety contractors worldwide.

Buying Guide

Choosing the appropriate EXFP7 model is simple – just measure the inside volume of your enclosure and compare it with the protected volume rating. The 10g or 12g model is suitable for small junction boxes. The standard electric cabinets typically require the 30g, 40g, or 60g model. The 1.5m³ big equipment enclosures need the 144g model. You can consult with our engineers for any size or use questions.

  1. Calculate the volume inside (length times width times height) of your protected enclosure.
  2. Select the relevant EXFP7 model according to the protected volume chart.
  3. Confirm whether you prefer surface mounting or the use of a DIN rail mount.
  4. Approve samples and OEM artwork in the case of custom branding.
  5. Production with factory quality check and full testing reports.
  6. Shipping worldwide – wholesale shipments dispatched from the factory.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hot aerosol fire extinguishing device and how does it work?

The hot aerosol fire extinguishing device is known as a compact automatic fire extinguishing system for its ability to utilize its property. As compared to traditional sprinkler system and gas-based systems, the EXFP7 does not have any pressurized cylinders to work with or have to rely on any power to be operational. It uses a solid body of chemical components for aerosol formation by using strontium nitrate and potassium nitrate as the main oxidizers. The thermal activating line lies at the threshold of temperature, allowing the compound to burn out effectively and create an excellent aerosol. The aerosol is capable of interrupting the process of combustion, and so enables the device to extinguish various types of fires.

How do I choose the correct EXFP7 model for my enclosure?

The choice depends on the internal volume of the protected enclosure, as for instance, the EXFP7 series is created based on an extinguishing density of 100g/m³, whereby the 1g of aerosol agent is able to protect 0.01m³ of volume. For a small junction box of the internal volume of 0.1m³, the choice should be made in favor of the 10g model (EXFP7 D0.01G/S-QR), while for 0.12m³ space description, one should go for the 12g variation (D0.012G/S-QR). For a standard electrical cabinet of internal volume between 0.3 and 0.6m³, various options can be selected, i.e. 30g, 40g and 60g models. If the protected enclosure consists of 1.5m³, the most reasonable choice will be 144g option (EXFP7 D0.144G/S-QR). In case the volume of the enclosure is not among the ordinaries, it is advisable to round the size up in order to ensure proper fire protection coverage.

What fire classes does the EXFP7 series cover?

The EXFP7 Black Square Series is approved for suppression of Class A ordinary combustibles (wood, paper, textiles and cable insulations), Class B flammable liquids (fuels, oils and solvents), Class C flammable gases (methane, propane and natural gas) and Class E electrical fires with live energized equipment. The broad scope of protection of EXFP7 makes it an ideal candidate for use in electrical panels, server rooms, communication shelters, battery boxes, wind turbine cabinets, solar inverters assembly, control centers and any other enclosed systems that carry important risks of solid, liquid and electrical fires.

What is the service life and maintenance requirement for the EXFP7?

The EXFP7 series is guaranteed to last for a decade when used under normal operating conditions, which means that no maintenance work is necessary within this time, since the device has no pressurized components or filters that need to be checked, cleaned or replaced. Its operation can be seen as maintenance-free. It is advised to check the thermal sensing wire and casing visually every couple of years in order to check for any physical damage, corrosion or contamination. Every ten years or so, the device should be substituted for a new one to ensure guaranteed fire protection performance.

Can the EXFP7 be mounted on a DIN rail inside an electrical panel?

Indeed, all EXFP7 models are supplied ready for the surface mounting with holes for the screws which can be mounted directly onto the surface of the enclosure or onto the backplate. However, if required by panel builders or the integrators of the systems, special DIN rail mounting brackets can be supplied as an additional accessory. Furthermore, the ultra-compact design (the thickness of the EXFP7 model with the lowest profile is only 9mm) allows for installation in cramped spaces of the DIN rail enclosure occupied by circuit breakers, contactors, terminal blocks, and PLCs without requiring any additional space.

Is the EXFP7 suitable for outdoor or harsh environment installations?

Definitely — the EXFP7 series is designed to endure extreme working conditions thanks to it operating temperature range, which varies from -50℃ to +90℃ and the ability to resist air humidity of up 95% RH. This is why it can be used in electrical cabinet in outdoors, on telecoms shelters, wind turbine nacelles, solar inverter cabinets, as well as in rooms for marine electrical equipment and places, like the desert and in arctic conditions. Its high-temperature resistant plastic cover protects the device from UV radiation, salt water spray, dust and location humidity.
