Product Information
EXET1-100 100 Amps Intelligent Solar & Grid Automatic Transfer Switch – <50ms
The EXET1-100 series 100 amps automatic transfer switch is designed specifically for photovoltaic and grid-tied electrical power systems. It provides automatic seamless transfer of electrical power between the output of solar inverters, grid-tied electrical supply or back-up generators while being used primarily on AC 400v systems with operational current ratings of 16 amps through 100 amps, continuously measuring the voltage at both input voltage sources and in <50ms. This means less than 50 milliseconds, contacts are transferred; and allows sensitive equipment to stay connected to the electrical supply without interruption.
The compact DIN rail mount design with a built-in electronic control circuitry eliminates issues related to wiring complexity typically found when connecting multiple external devices. Therefore, the EXET1-100 solar automatic transfer switch integrates into residential solar hybrid systems, commercial distributed generation systems, and 100 amp automatic transfer switch for generators installations. Each of the three configurations is available in either 2 pole, 3 pole, or 4 pole type configurations. The AC-33iB rating & a conditional short-circuit current rating of 50kA ensures that the switching operation of mixed loads will occur without the contacts welding.

EXET1-100 – Fast, Compact, and Purpose-Built for New Energy
The EXET1-100 sets itself apart with a compact DIN rail form and integrated electronic control system, ideal for distributed energy systems. Its <50ms transfer speed minimizes inverter dropouts when transitioning power sources, ensuring a continuous power supply. Specialized for solar PV projects or portable generator use, it boasts private labeling, batch traceability, and certification-ready documentation. With its AC-33iB rating and 50kA short-circuit capacity, it supports mixed resistive and inductive loads for seamless solar-plus-storage applications.
How to Select a Solar Automatic Transfer Switch
Key considerations for choosing the EXET1-100 in PV hybrid, grid-backup, and generator switching applications.
1. Why Transfer Speed Matters for Solar
When a grid outage occurs, a solar inverter must disconnect from the grid and transition to back-up mode. A slow transfer switch can cause the inverter to shut down completely, requiring a manual restart. The EXET1-100’s <50ms switching time bridges this gap — fast enough that most inverters ride through the transition without faulting. For a 100 amp automatic transfer switch in a solar hybrid system, this speed is a critical performance metric.
2. DIN Rail Integration
The EXET1-100 mounts on a standard DIN rail, directly inside the distribution panel. This eliminates a separate enclosure and reduces wiring — the switch sits alongside MCBs and RCDs, simplifying the overall system layout. For solar installers and panel builders, this compact format speeds up assembly and reduces cabinet size requirements.
3. Current Rating and Pole Selection
Choose the current rating based on the maximum continuous load the switch will carry — typically the inverter output or the backed-up circuit’s rating. For single-phase 220V solar systems, select 2P. For three-phase 400V systems, select 3P or 4P depending on whether neutral switching is required. The available ratings from 16A to 100A allow precise sizing without overspending on unused capacity.
4. PC Class and Short-Circuit Coordination
The EXET1-100 is a PC class ATS, meaning it can be closed onto a live load without generating short-circuit current. Combined with an RT16-00-63A fuse for 50kA conditional protection, this provides a safe and coordinated scheme for grid-connected solar installations. Always verify that the prospective fault current at the installation point does not exceed the switch’s rated Iq.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it legal to install your own transfer switch?
Installing a 100 amp automatic transfer switch involves connecting the utility supply, an alternative power source (such as a solar inverter or generator), and the building’s electrical panel. This work must be performed by a licensed electrician in virtually all jurisdictions to comply with local wiring codes, grid interconnection standards, and safety regulations. While the EXET1-100 is designed for straightforward DIN rail installation, professional installation is mandatory to ensure proper grounding, source isolation, and regulatory compliance.
What are the common problems with ATS panels?
Frequent issues with ATS panels include contact welding under short-circuit conditions, nuisance transfers caused by incorrect voltage thresholds, and installation errors from complex external wiring. The EXET1-100 addresses these through its PC class rating, which certifies the ability to switch live loads without welding. Its built-in electronic controller eliminates the need for a separate voltage monitoring relay, reducing wiring complexity and potential failure points. The fast <50ms transfer time also minimizes the risk of equipment brownouts during grid transitions.
What is a 100 amp transfer switch?
A 100 amp transfer switch is an automatic changeover device rated to carry and switch a continuous current of up to 100 amperes between two power sources — typically the utility grid and a backup source such as a generator or solar inverter. The EXET1-100 is a 100 amp automatic transfer switch that supports currents from 16A to 100A, with 2P, 3P, and 4P configurations for single-phase and three-phase systems. Its <50ms contact transfer speed, DIN rail mounting, and PC class rating make it suitable for residential solar hybrid systems, small commercial backups, and portable generator integration.
Can I install an ATS myself?
While the EXET1-100 features a compact DIN rail design for simple integration, installing an automatic transfer switch requires working with the main electrical supply and alternative power sources. This is regulated electrical work that must be performed by a licensed electrician to ensure compliance with local codes, proper overcurrent protection, and safe isolation. DIY installation is not recommended and is illegal in most regions. Always consult a qualified electrician for ATS installation.
