Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between an MCB and a DC MCB?
MCBs are typically used for alternate current circuits due to zero-crossing, which helps extinguishing the arc. On the contrary, DC MCBs such as HUM18Z-50 are set to work with flows which do not have zero-crossing and are equipped with magnetic arc chamber.
Can DC MCBs work with AC circuits?
While from a technical point of view it is possible to use DC MCBs on AC systems, it is not suggested as they are specifically designed for DC operations, which means that the arc-flux design is not effective when operating with AC systems. The right MCB for AC is AC type.
Which situations are appropriate for the usage of DC MCB?
DC MCBs prevent overcurrent and short circuits in DC applications such as telecommunications stations (48 volt direct current), electric trains, solar PV systems, and more. HUM18Z-50 is available from 6A up to 50A, thus serving the needs of the consumers.
What is the difference between DC MCBs and DC MCCBs?
DC MCBs are small, lightweight, rated up to 63A with breaking capacity of up to 10kA, while DC MCCBs are bigger and heavier devices designed for higher values of current and breaking capacity. If you need to carry your project out with DC circuits under 50A, you can use HUM18Z-50, but please be informed of the fact that for any other operations, you need an MCCB.
